Who pays the OA fees? Can grant funds be used for these costs?

To comply with the foundation’s policy, grantees need to post a preprint or deposit their accepted manuscript at PMC. Neither of these routes has cost to the grantee. If a grantee chooses to pursue open access journal publishing, they should seek out alternative funds from their institution or co-authors. Grant funds cannot be used for publication fees.
